Weekend Getaway

Hey y’all!

During quarantine I had the pleasure of taking some r&r in the Great Smoky Mountains. The location was just perfect. It was in just enough to watch the sunrise and sunset over the mountains from the balcony, as well as, being 30 minutes give or take a few into the town. Yes, there is coffee both Starbucks and Dunkin, if you are a coffee addict like me. The town driving in was super interesting to say the least. They had upside down lookalike buildings from those history textbooks we grew up reading. For instance there was an upside down Titanic building. How cool is that? They had many attractions, but unfortunately all were closed, so I will have to make another trip to see all the town has to offer.

If you are not a huge camping kind of girl like me, but still want to get out in nature this is the perfect little weekend trip. Grab a group of your friends and rent a cabin. During quarantine when almost nothing is open you have to be creative about your time. The group I met up with brought board games to play. Even though we are no longer in quarantine, board games are the move for those resting hours. This for sure brought competition and a fun way to socialize when there is nothing else to do. Monopoly sure can get in intense let me tell ya.

On Satuday, we decided we would hike in the midmorning/afternoon. I was a little nervous that the hiking would be intense and that I would have to go to the bathroom in the woods, which is not something I ever want to do, but it ended being just the right amount of hiking. While most trails were closed, we did get to hike a small loop with gorgeous views of greenery and the beautiful sounds of a river flowing. There is nothing like it, well maybe the ocean, but that is beside the point. The path was very easy to follow along with, thank goodness. There was only one steep hill, but trust me if I can do it you can do it.

If you are looking for a quiet getaway I highly recommend getting in the mountains!

Xoxo
